We are a passionate team that is highly motivated to bring value to our research partners using state-of-the-art data integration solutions. Our team has a very diverse background and is interested in scientific research as well as in data integration and data modeling questions.
About the Job: Join our R D Data Integration team and provide BASF-wide data solutions for multiple application areas. This comprises materials sciences and materials development, process development, and quality control.
RESPONSIBILITIES
You will be responsible for projects in this field and closely co-operating with R D, engineering, central functions, and business units.
Furthermore, you will actively identify needs of researchers, translate these into R D software specifications, and be part of the implementation team.
You will communicate ideas and solutions of FAIR-Data, API-fication, and big data technology to a broad community of researchers, scientists, as well as developers. Therefore, you will be acting as an enabler in interdisciplinary project teams.
Finally, you will also keep an overview of the latest developments in data integration technologies.
QUALIFICATIONS
Strong background in IT with an interest in natural sciences and preferably working experience in agile methodologies.
Programming skills in Python, preferably also in PySpark.
Familiar with best practices for code documentation, formatting, versioning, and unit/integration testing.
Experience in the design of RESTful APIs.
Experience in designing relational data models based on user requirements.
Developing and operating knowledge of ETL pipelines in production.
Creative and motivated working style with a strong focus on innovation.
Fluent English language skills as well as your excellent communication skills which define you as an effective team player.
Experience in working in a scientific environment.
NICE TO HAVE
Experience working with Palantir Foundry.
Operating knowledge of system and/or database administration.
